Two tradies, a shared ute, and a long list of jobs nobody wanted.

Ironbark Trade Co. started because customers kept asking the plumber whether he knew a sparky, and the sparky whether he knew a carpenter. Eventually it was easier to bring everyone in-house.

The short version

Built in the west, for the west.

The houses around here are old, charming and rarely square. A Yarraville weatherboard will hand you a subfloor problem, a wiring problem and a drainage problem in the same afternoon, and the last thing anyone wants is three separate contractors blaming each other.

So we built the opposite. One office, one number, and twelve trades who work the same streets every week and know exactly what they're going to find behind the plaster. When a job crosses trades, we sequence it internally instead of leaving you to project-manage strangers.

We publish our rates because the alternative — "we'll see when we get there" — is how people end up with invoices they don't understand. You'll know the callout, the hourly rate and the likely range before anyone is dispatched, and if the job turns out bigger than expected we stop and tell you before we keep going.

We're not the cheapest crew in the inner west and we don't try to be. We turn up in the window we promised, we do the work properly the first time, and we leave the place tidier than we found it.

How we work

Four things we don't budge on.

01

The price you were told

Callout and hourly rate confirmed before dispatch. If scope changes, work pauses until you've agreed the new number.

02

Two-hour windows

Not "sometime Tuesday". You get a two-hour arrival window and a text when the van leaves the job before yours.

03

The right trade, not the available one

If your bathroom leak is really a roof leak, we'll say so — even when it means rebooking with a different crew.

04

Clean site, every time

Drop sheets down, offcuts taken away, and a written note of anything we noticed that'll need attention later.

Small enough to know your street. Big enough to finish the job.

Four crews go out each weekday from the Anderson Street yard. Everyone is either licensed in their trade or working under someone who is, and every van carries the stock for the jobs we get called out on most.
