Appointment helper

Which appointment do I need?

The most common booking problem is a fifteen-minute slot with forty minutes of things to cover. Answer four practical questions and we'll suggest the right appointment type and length — then you can book it with confidence.

1. How much do you need to talk through?
2. Is it new to us, or a follow-up?
3. Anything else needed at the same time?

Tick everything that applies — each one adds time to the booking.

4. How would you like to be seen?

How the suggestion is worked out

  1. Talking time: nothing 0 min, one thing 10 min, two 18 min, three or more 26 min.
  2. Add 5 minutes if the matter is new to us, so there's room for history.
  3. Add the minutes shown against each extra you ticked.
  4. Round up to the nearest slot we actually run: 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes.

If you have a medical emergency, call 000. This helper only sorts out appointment length and type — it does not ask about symptoms, provide medical advice or suggest a diagnosis. If you're not sure, book anything and reception will move you to the right slot.

How we work

Continuity is the whole point of a family practice.

You can ask for the same GP each visit, and we'd encourage it. Knowing your history is what turns a fifteen-minute appointment into something useful rather than a fresh start every time.

Same GP where you want one

Ask reception and we'll hold your preferred doctor's list wherever the timing works.

Nurse clinic for the practical things

Dressings, immunisations and health checks run through our nurses, which frees GP time up.

Longer appointments on request

If you have a list, say so when you book. We would much rather set aside the time.

Allied health in the same building

Physio, psychology, podiatry and dietetics visit our rooms, so referrals stay simple.

Common questions

Before you book.

Do I need a long appointment?

If you have more than one thing to raise, need forms completed, or it's a first visit with a longer history, a longer appointment is usually the right call. The helper above works it out for you.

Can I see the same doctor every time?

Yes, and we recommend it. Tell reception who you'd like to see and we'll book their list. If they're away and it can't wait, another of our GPs can see you and will have your notes.

What does it cost?

Fees depend on the appointment type, its length and your circumstances. Reception will tell you what applies to your booking before you come in, so there are no surprises at the desk.

Is telehealth available?

For many follow-ups, results and simple matters, yes. Anything needing an examination, a dressing or an injection has to be in person — the helper flags that for you.

What if I need help when you're closed?

Call 000 for an emergency. Otherwise our recorded message directs you to the after-hours service that covers our patients, and anything from that visit comes back to us.
