Allied health · Hindmarsh, Adelaide

Good rehab isn’t a mystery. It’s a plan you can see.

Rivermill is a physio-led clinic on Manton Street. Ten allied health and medical services share one building and one set of notes — so the person treating you next week already knows what happened this week.

What’s in the building

Ten services, one set of notes.

Physiotherapy leads most of what happens here, but recovery rarely stays in one lane. Everything below sits under the same roof, and referrals between us take a conversation rather than a waiting list.

  • Physiotherapy

Assessment, hands-on treatment and staged loading programs run on the gym floor.

  • Podiatry

Gait, footwear and orthotic reviews for feet that have to carry the load.

  • Osteopathy

Whole-body manual therapy when stiffness and movement patterns are the sticking point.

  • Chiropractic

Manual and adjustment-based care, coordinated with whatever your physio program is doing.

  • Dietetics & Nutrition

Practical eating plans that support recovery, energy and the long haul afterwards.

  • Psychology & Mental Health

Talking therapy, including the mental side of persistent pain and long recoveries.

  • Nursing & Community Care

Wound care, health checks and in-home visits for clients who can’t easily travel to us.

  • General Practice (GP)

Everyday medical care and referrals, in the same building as your therapy.

  • Dentistry

Check-ups, cleans and restorative work in a quiet surgery at the back of the building.

  • Optometry

Eye tests, prescriptions and frames — including vision checks that sit behind balance work.

    How we work

Hands-on when it helps. Loading when it lasts.

Rivermill started in a converted flour store off the Torrens with two physios and a borrowed treatment bed. The idea then is the idea now: manual therapy is worth doing when it gets you moving, but the thing that holds is the work you do between appointments.

    • The plan is written down. Sessions, weeks, milestones and what you’re doing at home — on paper, from the first visit.

    • The same measures every time. We re-test what we tested at the start, so progress is a number rather than a feeling.

    • We’ll tell you when to stop. When a block has done its job, we discharge you with a maintenance program instead of booking more.

    • Qualified, registered practitioners. Every clinician here holds current registration for the discipline they practise in.

    What people mention afterwards.

“Six months of treatment elsewhere and nobody had ever counted the sessions out for me. Rivermill mapped the whole block on day one.”

“Knee reconstruction. The plan changed twice as I healed, but I always knew what the next three weeks were meant to look like.”
    Dan T. — Woodville
“Mum sees the physio and the podiatrist in the same morning, and the two of them actually talk to each other about her.”

    Questions

    Before you book.

Anything not answered here, call reception on (08) 7009 4820. Questions are free.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

For most of our services you can book directly — no referral needed. Some funding and referral pathways do require paperwork from a doctor first, and reception will tell you which applies to you before your appointment rather than after it.

Is the plan planner on this page an assessment?

No. It doesn’t assess you, it can’t diagnose anything, and it isn’t clinical advice. It multiplies typical session counts by our published rates so you can see the likely shape and cost of a program. Two people with the same goal often need very different plans — that’s what the in-person assessment is for.

What should I bring and wear?

Clothes you can move in — shorts are ideal for anything below the waist. Bring any scans, reports or surgeon’s instructions you have, plus a list of medications. If you’re coming for the gym floor, bring proper shoes.

What will it cost, and can I claim any of it back?

Our standard rates are published in the planner above and don’t change based on who you are. Whether any of it is claimable depends entirely on your own cover and circumstances — we’ll always give you an itemised receipt, and reception is happy to check what applies before you commit to anything.

Can I see more than one practitioner here?

Yes, and most people eventually do. With your consent, everyone treating you works from the same file, so your podiatrist can see what your physio changed last week. We’ll try to stack appointments on the same morning where the diary allows.

What if I can’t get to the clinic?

Our nursing and community care team visits clients at home across the inner west, and some follow-up appointments can be done by video where that genuinely works. Assessments are almost always better in person — there’s only so much you can see through a screen.
